MHP ΘV The Mother of God 'Hodegetria', nimbate, wearing chiton and maphorion, pointing with her right hand towards Infant Christ seated on her left arm. Rev. ૪ΛROC / CΠAΘ,K,ΔΔ / ЄΠI T૪ XP / Γ,K,Λ, O RA/[C]AK,ΠⲰ/Λ, in six lines; above and below, decorations. Unpublished in the standard references. Traces of an undertype on the obverse and some marks and scratches, otherwise, very fine.


The names on this seal are exceptional: the name Oulbos appears to be otherwise unattested, whereas the family Basakopoulos, which traces its origin to an ancestor with the Armenian name Vasak, is only attested much later.
